“Boots on the Beach” Happenings for Mardi Gras Week – Galveston, Texas

My husband and I will be attending Galveston Mardi Gras this year. We will be in the Mardi Gras parade this year. We are very excited about being in the parade! We will be on the big “Pirate Ship” Saturday Feb 9 and 3:30. Look for us, you might be able to catch some of our beads and or candy! I am going to be posting a few happenings for Mardi Gras week. Galveston really swells to a full crowd during this week. There is so much going on in and around town. This is a really fun and exciting week to be staying in Galveston. Grab your boots and dust off your cowboy hat, a once in a lifetime country music festival is coming to Galveston! Be sure to include “Boots on the Beach” on your Mardi Gras must do list. Texas country music fans of all ages are invited to join the festivities on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 during the second weekend of Galveston’s Mardi Gras celebration. The festival will feature a dance pavilion, beer garden and food vendors as well as live music. Infamous Texas songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker will be gracing the stage, along with country heavy hitters Joe Ely, Jesse Dayton, Paula Nelson and Galveston locals Sam Navarro and the Lone Star Devils.

Boots on the Beach is a family friendly festival presented by Mitchell Historic Properties and the George P. Mitchell Family in conjunction with The Tremont House Mardi Gras Ball and Parade Viewing Party. Country fans wanting to two-step the night away are invited to join the fun by purchasing tickets in advance online. For regular Mardi Gras Ball goers, complimentary tickets to Boots on the Beach are included with the purchase of an overnight package at The Tremont House. An overnight package which includes tickets to the country music festival is also available at The Hotel Galvez & Spa, which is located just across the street from the festival venue.

Country lovers can join the festivities at Beach Central Park, 21st and Seawall, on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 from 4 p.m. to Midnight. Purchase tickets in advance for $30 or for $40 at the gate.
